A Fungus Among Us
(or a Funky Fungus)

While walking around my garden today,

I spotted this unusual specimen growing

in the mulch under a tree.

It has been cool and wet lately,

so it is perfect weather for mushrooms

and fungus.

I'm really not sure what this is.

Our new neighbor's four year old son

said it looks like a milk bottle.

Oddly, it has a hole in the center.

It is 5" long and the stem is 1" wide.

I spent over half an hour searching on the the Internet

and still could not find out what kind of mushroom or

fungus this is.

Any ideas?
